OC Events has appointed Race-Trax as Official Tracking Partner to the iShares Cup – Extreme 40 Sailing Series 2009.

The iShares Cup Extreme 40 Sailing Series is a six-event circuit stopping at some of Europe’s top destinations including Italy, France, United Kingdom, Germany and the Netherlands. Showcasing top-level racing, the event attracts some of the world's best Olympic, round the world, America's Cup and solo sailors, who will go head-to-head on open sea, picturesque lakes and restricted canals.

The Race-Trax team is delighted to be chosen as Official Tracking Partner for the series and will be in Paris on 5^th May 2009 for the iShares Cup launch.

Race-Trax are delighted to announce the release of an exciting new feature to compliment their latest high accuracy tracking system.  This new feature places wind sensors on specific marks on the course providing the Race Committee with LIVE! "On the Water" wind data.  Used in conjunction with a compass equipped ERDALL tracker, apparent wind speed and direction are converted to True.  This information can be used to make quick and accurate decisions about course laying, shortening and changing.

Race-Trax are delighted to announce the inclusion of a heading sensor to their range of tracker modules. This major new development (currently undergoing field trials with ERDALL v2.x - their latest high accuracy tracking module) enables true heading, pitch and roll data to be relayed from tracker modules on the race course and displayed at the shore-based Race Office.

Driven by requests from Race Officials this development will be a major step forward in assisting with race monitoring and management. Whereas standard GPS systems produce platform heading data distorted by lateral wind and tide pressure a tracker module, fitted with an ERDALL heading sensor, will always display true platform heading as opposed to a derived CoG (course over ground).

RYA World Class Sailing Events have teamed up with Race-Trax, manufacturers of the Race-Trax GPS tracking system, in the continuing bid to assist race officials in making tough start line judgements.

Race-Trax will be granted unique access to key RYA events in order to allow experiments to continue in the quest to have a system that allows race officers to identify ALL competitors who start over the line and are on course side (OCS).

Last year´s successful launch of ERDALL 1.6.x, the high accuracy tracking module for the Race-Trax mobile platform tracking system, based on technology developed by Race-Trax for military use (Nav-Trax), was welcomed by the sail racing community. Following consultation with sailors and event officials a need was identified for a tracking module capable of being fitted to smaller dinghies such as the Laser Radial.
